2005
In 2005 we almost went all the way!! By Noon on Saturday we were seeded # 3 out of 40 teams. (We won 9 out of 11 matches) That meant we were the third team to pick their partners (The top 8 seeded teams pick 2 partners to form 8 alliances) -- we picked Bay Shore and then in the second round of picking we picked Mt Sinai to form the #3 alliance. The final rounds at 1pm were double elimination. We won four in a row and landed in the semi-finals against #1 alliance. We lost the first round and won the second round. In the deciding round we lost by 9pts. We came within 9pts of being the LI Champs. Thus we came in second. FIRST calls it a "Finalist" place The students wish to thank: parents and KeySpan Engineers Mr. Paul Cotrone and Mr. Roy Manno, parent and Grumman Engineers Mr. Sal Pluchino and Ms Allison Fusswinkel parents Mr. Paul Keker, Mr D’Italia, Mr Acerio and especially Mr Stano who took over the team when Mr. Burg had his health crisis in 2007.
Thank you
We also had the support of Ms. Cuttittia. Also a big thank you to the Deer Park School District. We would not be to enter this very expensive contest if we didn’t have the financial support of the district. The Team with SBPLI sponsored our own “off season” event this past October 20th.We are the only team on Long Island that does this. This year was our third event and over 17 teams entered, including one from New Jersey.
Adding Fun
We have been involved with the F.I.R.S.T. Robotic competition since 1998. F.I.R.S.T. In the ten years we have been involved we have reached the quarter finials 5 times and the semi-finials 3 times.

The team has two great guys from KeySpan and a guy and gal from NorthropGrumman. Parents are also involved. After the six-week build period you must ship the robot to warehouse or be disqualified. You then can pick from over 30 contest sites around the country to play the game against other high school teams.

Because of the cost factor we have been going to the Long Island Regional, which is sponsored by SBPLI (School Business Partnership of Long Island) held this year at Hofstra University in the Hofstra Arena. It is a three-day event. For the first time, this year we are going to a second in Hartford, Conn.

Current:
This year, we have become an unbelievable team with a lot of cooperation from all the members. Thank you to Mr. Burg and Mr. Stano for supporting us. Thank you to Pac, Mr. Catrone, and Troy for cooperating, and helping others out. This could never have been done without you.
